The session on the "Emergent Speller" was no different. Although I was privileged to work with students at this age there were instances that I questioned myself as to why they behaved the way they did.  Thankfully throughout our session, I gain a clearer understanding of students at this stage and I am ...

( Source)https://mrswillskindergarten.com/balanced-literacy-teach/ Prior to this course, I was not aware of what is  Balance Literacy however through a class seminar  I  now  know that balanced literacy is about a best practice framework that guides students towards proficient life long reading and writing (Lynch2018) Further, the balanced literacy approach promotes the gradual release of responsibility. the teacher would first model the aspect to be learned then the teacher and student will do work together as the student receives scaffolding after which the teacher would allow the student to work independently. Also, this model mentors students into becoming capable learners and thinkers when handling tasks for which they have not yet developed expertise.  I am happy to have been exposed to this approach in teaching...

The important aspects that  I should consider when writing a persuasive piece are to ensure that I can grab my reader's attention from the start. This can be achieved by the use of statistics, a question, or even a quotation. Also, my body paragraph should consist of evidence that can support my stance and as I conclude I should remember to summar...

Although I am aware that we use sentences to construct our pieces, it was enlightening to learn that these sentences can be telling and showing sentences. As writers, we must understand that there is a profound difference between showing and telling in our writing. It was fascinating to learn that showing sentences' gives specific information that provides a sensory and mental appeal to readers. On the other hand, telling sentences are ofter vague. They provide information in a general way and leave out vital informat...

I can Cleary remember instances where I was tempted to scold my son for defacing the walls.   With my limited knowledge, I was puzzled as to the reason. I ventured to...
